Unpacking SHED Project…

I’m unpacking after returning home from a week in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and found this note from one of the girls who received her first hearing screening…

SHED Project

We are grateful to the children and their parents who eagerly participated in the SHED (Speech and Hearing Early Detection) Project.  Much work still needs to be done and ideas for improvement are swirling; however, happy to report we were able to successfully provide training to 31 local persons as audio-techs, complete more than 60 screenings, provide a workshop for parents, distribute hearing aid care kits, and meet with community and education leadership during this inaugural visit to SVG.  Thanks as always to the Cabot Trust Foundation for their generous support of our work.  Tired after a nearly 24-hour travel day but happily sparking on!
